Bioinorganic Chemistry

Main research activities

Importance of metal ions interacting with biological systems is investigated.

Projects are for instance oriented towards structure-function relationships in metallo-proteins and coordination compounds involving peptides and metal ions.

Other projects are more focused on model systems and involve syntheses, physicochemical studies and theoretical calculations.

Beyond the curiosity driven understanding the projects are aimed to contribute to practical solutions within environmental chemistry, food production and treatment of diseases.
